BKZ Guide — Build and Kill Zombies Guide

Luck and rolls in Build and Kill Zombies

The game description never mentions rolling. Three of the five game passes are about it, and so are several skill tree nodes.

Two machines, not one

There are separate roll stations for CAR PARTS and for SUPPORTS, which is where weapons come from. Beside each pedestal a sign counts rolls down to a locked item (in 19 Rolls, LOCKED on one of them), and boards above the stations read Reset in followed by a number that counts down. The recordings do not show what happens when either countdown reaches zero.

Two notations, printed side by side

The label over a pedestal gives the odds as 1 in N and, underneath, a rarity word. Both machines do it. Set on one scale, the words on the filmed labels climb in step with their odds:

  • x5 Basic CylinderCommon 1 in 3
  • Metal SpikeRare 1 in 9
  • Green SmasherEpic 1 in 14
  • Double BarrelLegendary 1 in 18
  • Rocket TurboMythical 1 in 25

The top word on these labels is Mythical, not Mythic. None of them reads Uncommon, though one written guide files two parts under that word, so there may be a step between Common and Rare that is not on this list yet.

The collection screen only shows odds

Open INDEX (tabs for Engines, Fuels, Wheels, Blocks and Supports) and the rarity words are gone: each entry keeps its 1 in N and loses the word. The wheel line, on a scale that has to stretch to 1 in 250:

  • Basic Wheel1 in 3
  • Rubber Wheel1 in 7
  • Razor Wheel1 in 10
  • Unnamed (gold)1 in 18
  • Unnamed (red, secret)1 in 250
The INDEX collection screen open on its Wheels tab

The INDEX screen on its Wheels tab: Basic Wheel 1 in 3, Rubber Wheel 1 in 7, Razor Wheel 1 in 10, and two entries still shown as ??? at 1 in 18 and 1 in 250. This screen prints odds only, with no rarity words.

The index screen open on its engines tab, with three rows of engines and a bottom row of dark silhouettes

The ÍNDICE screen on its Motores (engines) tab. The top row runs 1 in 3, 1 in 6, 1 in 14, 1 in 40; the second 1 in 90, 1 in 150, 1 in 375, 1 in 750. The bottom row is four dark silhouettes whose odds are in the thousands, the last reading 1 in 2?,000 with one digit hidden.

The engines tab goes much further out

A later recording, made after Update 2.5, opens the same screen on engines. The odds climb 1 in 3, 6, 14, 40, then 90, 150, 375, 750, and the tile borders change colour as they go: white, green, blue, purple, then yellow, then red. Below that is a row of black silhouettes at odds in the thousands, the longest reading 1 in 2?,000 with a digit hidden. Compare the wheel line above, which stops at 1 in 250. How many rolls each of these takes.

The narrator says the update added a new rarity called Divine, where the top word on the earlier labels was Mythical. He does not match it to a tile, and this screen prints colours and odds, not rarity words.

The skill tree, and “take luck first”

A hexagonal node tree, paid for in cash. The nodes seen in the earlier footage, drawn to the same scale. Update 2.5 added branches priced in the millions, which would flatten every bar below to a line, so they have a page of their own:

  • Luck I75
  • Unlock Gold Roll500
  • More Support I500
  • Gold Roll I1,200
  • More Support II3,700

Three separate creators say to put points into luck before anything else, and the developer sells permanent luck at two price tiers, so the advice and the shop agree. But look at the bars: Luck I is 75 and More Support II is 3,700. Taking luck first may simply be taking the cheapest thing first. No guide read for this site compares the two, so “luck first” is what people do, not a measured result.

The More Support nodes are named for the support slots on the car, and not every weapon uses one.
